We, you or I, are not responsible for his bad decisions. But the fact remains, a IS here and needs to be cared for. If that takes the whole community society to ensure that happens with babies who are 'mistakes', then so be it. Because to punish these for the poor choices of their parents makes no sense at all. They'll grow up to perpetuate those problems instead of finding solutions. I have no problem watching my tax dollars support programs like food stamps, WIC, commodities, medicaid, and yes, even welfare and low-income housing for those families who NEED it to survive. Of course there are those who take advantage of the system (I'll never forget the sometimes poster here, section8forlife) but that is the risk we take to help those others who are truly in need. You don't cut off the hand to spite the face. Oh, and we have no idea (yet) who's paying for this guy's college and living expenses. Could be his parents, could be scholarships or grants, could be he has student loans which he have to eventually repay. One thing I do know: He's not qualified for welfare. So someone IS paying, but it's not you nor me. I don't mind my tax dollars helping HIS right now, so this -'s father can get on the path to self-sufficiency and responsible parenting. It's not the -'s fault his father apparently thought more of his own at than his own future, or that of his offspring. Why is it right for society to commit this to being raised by under-educated and under-earning parents, just because we want to FORCE this guy to do the right thing? It's too late for that. About 11 months too late.
