Other than groceries and reoccurring bills, any purchase for the household over $ needs both of our approval. All personal expenses are paid from our individual accounts. I like fancy haircuts and cute shoes I buy those myself. The more I earn, the more 'fun money' I have. I do what I want with my money, and DH does the same. It's worked really well for us and we never fight about money since we started this system.
