Okay, first off your posts kind of bug me. Sorry, but true. I too am a single-mother in (butt-ass cold right now, isn't it?) and I'm living with my bf and he butts heads with my a bit. Thing is though, we're in MY house and I've been really working on laying down the ground rules about how he can and can not speak to my (he tends to argue with them like them and I feel like I have 3 -; he too was the eternal bachelor before me). He's spent a nights recently at friends' houses because I think he needs a break and perspective (or, at least, I do). But, what really gets me, is that you are hard-up and desperate enough to live with someone you hardly know (with shit, at 4mo into my relationship, I hadn't even introduced my bf to my yet) but you won't apply for gov't assistance!?!!? I, too, am in college (at Metro) seeking my CPA, have no family (estranged or not) other than my angry/abusive/alcoholic/legally insane biological parents, and work not one, not two, not, but jobs, but through, and for a bit after, my divorce I filed for both foodstamps and Medicaid until I got stable on my own. That does not make me a loser or an abuser of the system. It makes me the rare person who used the system for what it was originally intended for. That said, I'm sorry you're in a bad situation, but don't choose to live with a stranger, who you're concerned is not treating your fairly, because you're too um proud (?) to ask for help from the government when you need it, while you're in school, so you can better the lives of your? Want to know where to go or how to do it? me. I'll show you how. And, even though, I've only been there a few weeks, I even do work for a firm now that assists people with low-income housing located in Points (Job #4). I'm in the Accounting Dep't, but maybe I can ask and how they choose the people they do to help.
