Be my partner in...supervilliany?
Not a partner in crime, like most posts here will say...what can I say, I aspire to something greater. Maybe something a bit stranger. Or you can just be honest and say geekier. I've found that my dates lately lack this.
For once, I'd love to spend time with someone to watch cartoons, have debates on who could beat Batman, or play Mario Party on the Wii...not get really drunk and make out. I'm not saying I'm against those things, of course...they're just old and uninteresting, and lead to a lot of nice first dates....but no really amazing second ones.
As a way to get to know me, here is a list of the things that I want out of us. If even one of these things appeal....we have even more than the basis for a date. We have the basis for a friendship...a relationship...maybe even a shared life. These are strictly in order of how they pop into my head, not desirability.
We could be...
Cuddling on the couch watching Arrested Development, the whole thing, in a single ironman weekend (ok, ironman week. But you find it endearing that I'm that hardcore),
Teaching each other how to play our favorite old-school Nintendo/Sega/Computer games, and getting competitive over it despite neither of us knowing what we're doing,
Attempting to bake pot brownies. Spoiler: We fail the first time.
Shooing away my kittens because they're messing up our attempt to have a Strip Board Game night (ok, the strip part is optional. Except for when we play Hungry Hungry Hippos.),
Walking around a random, lame mall, but having fun because we're holding hands, which is always fun,
Going to a live music show of a band I know nothing about, but like anyways because I think you have great taste in music. It's great, but I keep having to angle in to guard you from the douchebags trying to bop with you,
Browsing the web in the same room, quietly, until one of us finds an awesome video/site/blog and gets all giddy and hastosharerightnow,
Fighting over the fact that an old GI Joe toy I got at some random comic store is totally art worthy of going over the fireplace,
Texting each other all day from work, and getting excited to go home not just to leave work...but to give each other a "work was so lame" comfort hug,
Biting each other. Not really for any sexual purposes...more just because biting is fun,
Watching old B-Movies (MST3K precense optional) and laughing at the horrible dialogue,
Spending an afternoon at the Museum of Jurassic Technology (because it needs to be done),
Playing pool at a local bar and amazing the patrons with our inability to ever sink a ball, to the point of record-breaking badness,
Falling asleep in each others arms, lips barely brushing each other....but close enough to know that a kiss is never going to be far away,
Going to random never-before-heard-of restaurants, and accepting the fact that the adventure is worth it even if we get sick,
Competing for the love of my cats with the age-old game of "whoever is willing to stuff the most tuna in their pants wins",
Spending all day wasting quarters at the Pinball Museum in Vegas,
Going to Gencon and SDCC and being geeks ALL DAY,
Debating which Saturday Morning Cartoons of the 80's could more realistiy happen, Dungeon's and Dragons or Gummi Bears,
Watching lots and lots of old episodes of the Muppet Show, and marveling at how amazing they are,
Feeling good about who we are, because we know that whatever happens, however strange either of us get, the other will be there to tolerate, accept, and rein in needed. Loving each other regardless of what the world thinks of us, and what we think of ourselves at the moment.
And let's not forget beating up superheroes. And eating pie. Pecan's my favorite...what's yours?
